![]() I had a week to get this house ready for the market and its top dollar asking price! The biggest obstacle to overcome was the living room furniture-it was inappropriate for the home's architectural style and therefore, did not show it in its best light. We put the out-of-place furnishings in storage then reconfigured the space using pieces borrowed from other rooms. With a few new accessories, the living room now exuded a comfortable elegance- exactly the image we were trying to sell. Another big hurdle was the home office. Since this would continue to be a working space while the house was on the market, it needed to be functional as well as attractive. I had my client pre-pack files and books that didn't require immediate access, which freed up shelf and storage space for his current needs. The result was an uncluttered space that potential buyers, and my client, found appealing. He also discovered an added bonus once the house was sold-half the packing was already done! Lastly, the guest bedroom, with its white walls and hodge-podge collection of furnishings, felt like a design afterthought. With an exciting new color palette and just a little editing, it now had the warmth buyers respond to. | |||||||||||||||||||
